Peter Nealon, Interstate Travel for Illicit Sex, Louisiana 2024

A 66-year-old New York man has pleaded guilty to traveling to Louisiana to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a 15-year-old female.

Peter Nealon, from Schenectady, New York, pleaded guilty on March 27, 2024, before United States District Judge Darrel James Papillion to interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2423(b).

According to court documents, Nealon met law enforcement personnel operating in an undercover capacity posing as a 15-year-old female on Instagram. Over the next several months, Nealon engaged the minor in overtly sexual conversations and transmitted images and videos depicting his erect penis.

Beginning in July 2023, and continuing on multiple occasions until March 27, 2024, Nealon told the minor that he intended to visit her in Louisiana to engage in sex and explained, in considerable detail, the sex acts he intended to perform.

In February 2024, Nealon used a messaging application to communicate with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old female, who was the minor’s friend. During conversations with the minor and her friend, Nealon expressed an intent and expectation to engage in various forms of sexual contact with the minor and her friend, individually and collectively.

Nealon faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years. He also faces at least 5 years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. Nealon may also be required to register as a sex offender.

Sentencing before Judge Papillion has been scheduled for October 8, 2024.
