PHILADELPHIA – In a chilling revelation, 32-year-old Christine Yoder of Philadelphia has pleaded guilty to exploiting two young children in one of the city’s most disturbing sex trafficking cases. Yoder is accused of using her influence to sexually abuse a six-year-old and a 16-month-old infant.
The case took a turn when Yoder sent an explicit photograph of the six-year-old to an undercover FBI agent, offering to transport the child for further sexual activities in Detroit. The incident led to Yoder’s arrest as she also produced pornographic images of the 16-month-old.
Yoder faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment. Alongside this, she is poised to be fined up to $1 million and face a special assessment of $400, along with at least five years of supervised release, potentially extending to a lifetime term.
Investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Yoder’s case has been prosecuted by First Assistant United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen, who is leading the government’s efforts to bring justice to the victims and their families.
The charges against Yoder include two counts of employing a child to produce images of sexually explicit conduct and two counts of distributing material involving the sexual exploitation of children. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 10, 2015, where the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on this heinous crime.
As the grim details of Yoder’s case unfold, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and realities of child sex exploitation in our communities. The public’s shock and outrage at these allegations has only heightened calls for stricter penalties and more resources dedicated to protecting our children from such predators.
