Robert Rosado, Impersonation Robbery, PA 2023

PHILADELPHIA – The streets of Philadelphia are no safer as Robert Rosado, a 44-year-old from the City of Brotherly Love, faces up to 23 years in the clink for a brazen impersonation of a federal officer. According to United States Attorney David Metcalf, Rosado is accused of donning a badge of false authority and robbing an auto repair shop on June 8, 2025.

The harrowing incident unfolded at the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue when Rosado, with a chilling confidence, claimed to be a federal immigration officer. His target was a female employee, whom he reportedly restrained forcefully before making off with $1,000 from the business. The audacity of his claim and the gravity of the crime have left law enforcement officials fuming.

Should Rosado be convicted of false impersonation of a federal officer and robbery interfering with interstate commerce (Hobbs Act robbery), he faces a maximum sentence of 23 years’ imprisonment and a staggering $500,000 fine. The charges are severe, reflecting the seriousness with which law enforcement views such acts of deceit and violence.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a united front in the fight against violent crime and gun violence. Launched on May 26, 2021, PSN strengthens community trust, supports local organizations in preventing violence, sets focused enforcement priorities, and measures results to ensure safer neighborhoods for all.

Investigating this bold heist were the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Ashley N. Martin and Special Assistant United States Attorney Meghan A. Farley. As always, the charges and allegations are merely accusations, with every defendant presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
