Mikal McCracken, Carjacking and Murder, Pennsylvania 2022

⏱ 3 min read

PHILADELPHIA – A five-man crew is facing serious time after a federal jury found them guilty of a relentless string of carjackings across the city, culminating in murder and a chilling attempt to silence a potential witness. U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced the convictions today, detailing a scheme that stretched from February 2022 and involved shipping stolen vehicles to Africa.

The ringleader, Mikal McCracken, 24 (aka “Kal”), got the harshest charges – convicted in the brutal carjacking death of a former Marine. He wasn’t stopping there; prosecutors proved McCracken also conspired with others to murder someone who could have talked. The feds tied him to 20 additional armed carjackings, five of which involved someone getting shot or shot at. One victim was hit twice, a month apart.

Amin Muse, 24 (aka “Miyn” and “Miyns”), stood beside McCracken in the Marine’s murder, and joined in the plot to silence the witness. Muse also racked up convictions for eight other armed carjackings, one where a victim took gunfire.

Aleem Abdul-Hakim, 23 (aka “Fatleem”), was also convicted in the Marine’s death and five additional armed carjackings. Dean Fosque, 28 (aka “30”), participated in nine armed carjackings – three of those included shootings, and one victim actually got hit. Rounding out the crew, Kavon Coleman, 23 (aka “Ski”), faces consequences for four carjackings.

The indictments landed in July 2024, but the evidence painted a picture of a cold, calculated operation. These weren’t smash-and-grabs; these were coordinated attacks with deadly results. Sentencing dates haven’t been set, but with charges including carjacking resulting in death and conspiracy to commit murder, expect lengthy federal sentences.
