The Mahoning Valley is reeling as Christopher Helmick, a 41-year-old local, has been sentenced to 280 months for possessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials. During a raid on Helmick’s Youngstown home, officers stumbled upon disturbing images of infants and prepubescent children, alongside his participation in a social media exchange ring. Helmick faces a decade of supervised release post-prison and a $63,500 fine. The FBI and Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force led the probe, which was part of Project Safe Childhood.
