Fort Wayne, IN – A local man has pleaded guilty to charges of maintaining a drug-involved premise, according to a recent plea agreement announced by the United States Attorney’s Office.
Preston R. Craig, 41, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, entered a guilty plea to the felony offense on [date]. The magistrate judge has recommended that the district court accept the tendered guilty plea, with parties having 14 days to object to the recommendation.
Craig’s plea stems from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Fort Wayne Police Department. Sentencing will be set by separate order by the district court.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony W. Geller. If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
This is not the only recent case involving drug-related charges in the area. A separate case has been brought against Derek C. Whetsel, 43, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who pleaded guilty to the felony offense of selling a firearm to a convicted felon.
Additionally, Marcel T. Banks, 26, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment, with 3 years supervised release and to pay $87,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to the felony offense of bank fraud. The investigation, led by the Internal Revenue Service, discovered that Banks had attempted to withdraw $10,000 from an account without the knowledge of the customer.
In a separate case, Raul Resendiz, 35, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced to 46 months with 2 years supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The investigation, conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department, revealed that Resendiz had a prior felony conviction and was on state probation at the time of his arrest.
