A Dupree, South Dakota man has been sentenced for his role in distributing methamphetamine in the region.
Ptan Clown, a/k/a P’tan Hoksila Clown, age 36, was sentenced to 8 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, a $1,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The charges against Clown stem from an indictment by a federal grand jury on July 19, 2016. He subsequently pled guilty on October 4, 2016.
Between May 29, 2016 and June 8, 2016, Clown knowingly and intentionally distributed various amounts of methamphetamine for varying amounts of cash on three separate occasions.
Methamphetamine is a Schedule II Controlled Substance. This is a serious offense that carries significant penalties.
The case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney SaraBeth Donovan prosecuted the case.
Clown was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. The sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need for accountability.
