Quintin Green, a member of the Brooklyn-based Ninedee Gang, has been charged with racketeering, murder, and other crimes in a superseding indictment unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn.
The indictment, announced by Acting United States Attorney Jacquelyn M. Kasulis, charges Green, along with fellow gang members Chayanne Fernandez, Maliek Miller, and Kevin Wint, with a range of crimes including murder in-aid-of racketeering, drug trafficking, firearms offenses, and robbery.
The charges stem from a dispute over the lighting of fireworks on the Fourth of July 2020, which led to the alleged murder of Shatavia Walls. Walls had been a government witness in a federal criminal trial in Brooklyn and testified that she had been shot by another Pink Houses gang member.
According to the indictment, the Ninedee Gang members, including Green and a juvenile male, opened fire on Walls as she walked through a courtyard at the Pink Houses on July 7, 2020. Walls was shot multiple times and succumbed to the gunshot wounds on July 17, 2020.
The indictment also alleges that Green and his co-conspirators posted on Facebook a newspaper article about the murder and claimed credit on behalf of the Ninedee Gang.
In addition to the murder charge, Green is also accused of participating in the Hobbs Act robbery of a Target store on Staten Island on November 3, 2020.
The defendants are expected to face a range of penalties, including lengthy prison sentences, if convicted of the charges against them.
Green and Wint were arrested on the morning of the indictment and will be arraigned this afternoon before United States Magistrate Judge Ramon E. Reyes, Jr. Fernandez and Miller were already in federal custody and will be arraigned at a later date.
The case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, in partnership with the FBI and the NYPD.
The indictment highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat violent gangs and bring justice to their victims.
