March 21, 1924, Jersey City, New Jersey – In a brazen scheme, a group of con artists has been swindling residents with a high-end radio scam. The scammers, who have been operating under the guise of ‘R.E. Thompson Mfg Co’, have been peddling their overpriced ‘Megnaphone’ to unsuspecting buyers. Priced at a whopping 3500 dollars, the device is allegedly a superior radio receiver that ‘instantly appreciates its wonderful performance’ and features ‘a design that is a real achievement’.

Victims of this scam report being lured in by the scammers’ representatives, who claim to be selling the ‘Megnaphone’ from a legitimate storefront at 150 Nassau Street in New York City. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that the scammers are operating out of a small storefront in Jersey City, far from the prestigious location they claim. When asked for comment, R.E. Thompson Mfg Co’s representatives seemed evasive, citing that their product is ‘a real achievement’ and that customers will ‘instantly appreciate its wonderful performance’. As the scam continues to unfold, authorities are urging residents to exercise caution when dealing with the scammers. ‘We urge anyone who has been approached by these scammers to come forward and report their experience,’ said a spokesperson for the Jersey City Police Department. ‘We will do everything in our power to bring these con artists to justice and protect our citizens from their deceitful tactics.’

The Jersey City Police Department has set up a hotline for victims to report their experiences and provide any information they may have about the scam. Residents can call 101 S AM or 35 PM to report any suspicious activity.
