Ramiro Martinez, Child Pornography, Texas 2015

Del Rio Man Sentenced to 121 Months in Federal Prison for Possession of Child Pornography

A 30-year-old Del Rio man has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Richard Durbin, Jr. and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent in Charge Shane Folden, San Antonio.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Alia Moses imposed the sentence on Ramiro Martinez, who was found guilty of one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, Martinez admitted to possessing child pornography from August 2014 through October 2014. The investigation revealed that Martinez was in possession of more than 125 images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children.

HSI agents executed a search warrant at Martinez’s residence on October 30, 2014, and seized the defendant’s computer and other related material. A forensics examination of the seized items confirmed the presence of child pornography.

As part of the sentencing, Martinez was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and forfeit the computer and other property he used in the commission of the offense.

“As this sentence makes clear, those who exploit innocent children will face serious consequences,” said Special Agent in Charge Shane Folden, HSI San Antonio. “Targeting these crimes is a high priority for HSI. We will continue to dedicate law enforcement resources to identify and bring to justice child predators that traumatize and victimize children.”

The investigation was conducted by HSI, and Assistant United States Attorney Matthew H. Watters prosecuted the case on behalf of the Government.

Martinez pleaded guilty to the charge on May 21, 2015. The sentence was imposed on Monday, with Judge Moses ordering Martinez to serve 121 months in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release.
