Jose Manuel Ramos-Godoy, 42, a citizen of Honduras, has pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry into the United States. The Honduran man was sentenced to serve three months in federal prison for his crime.
Ramos-Godoy, who is an alien without any legal status in the United States, was found guilty of re-entering the country after being physically removed twice before. In July 2006 and September 2014, he was removed from the United States pursuant to an order of removal.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly, who handled the case, Ramos-Godoy was found in Erie County on May 13, 2025, while driving a vehicle in a hotel parking lot in Amherst, NY. At the time of his arrest, he did not have any documents allowing him to be lawfully present in the United States.
The case against Ramos-Godoy is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime. The operation marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs).
The plea and sentencing of Ramos-Godoy are the result of an investigation by the U.S. Border Patrol, under the direction of Patrol Agent in Charge Martin B. Coombs. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the guilty plea and sentencing, which took place before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.
Ramos-Godoy’s sentence of three months in federal prison serves as a warning to others who attempt to re-enter the United States illegally. The Department of Justice remains committed to enforcing immigration laws and protecting national security. As part of Operation Take Back America, the DOJ will continue to work tirelessly to eliminate illegal immigration and transnational crime.
