Ranferi Heredia-Cortez, 31, of Norristown, PA, is facing serious consequences after being charged with illegal re-entry.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Heredia-Cortez, a native and citizen of Mexico, was found in the United States after having been deported from the country on or about August 18, 2003, and October 21, 2003.
The indictment alleges that Heredia-Cortez, also known as ‘Alexander Heredia-Cortez,’ ‘Ranferi Alexander Cortez,’ and ‘Rafael Ramirez Zanbrano,’ was found in the US on or about July 9, 2014.
Heredia-Cortez is accused of violating federal immigration laws and could face a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations (‘ERO’), and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Matthew J.D. Hogan and Special Assistant United States Attorney Mark T. Sendek.
It is essential to note that an indictment is an accusation, and Heredia-Cortez is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania is handling the case, and Patty Hartman is the media contact at 215-861-8525.
