A Rapid City man has pleaded guilty to a serious crime. Seth Between Lodges, age 31, appeared in court on March 28, 2013 and admitted to failing to update his sexual offender registration.
The maximum penalty for this crime is 10 years’ imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.
Between Lodges was required to keep his registration up to date, but he failed to do so from July 24, 2012 to November 19, 2012.
The investigation into this case was led by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins is prosecuting the case.
A presentence investigation has been ordered, and a sentencing date will be scheduled at a later time. The defendant, Between Lodges, has been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
This is a stark reminder of the importance of registration laws for sex offenders.
