Rashad Khalill Faunteroy, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2020

A Jefferson County man is behind bars after being accused of possessing a firearm despite having a domestic violence conviction.

Rashad Khalill Faunteroy, 21, of Charles Town, West Virginia, appeared before a federal magistrate judge on a firearms charge after being indicted last week, Acting United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced.

Faunteroy was indicted on one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.’ The 21-year-old is accused of having a 9mm handgun in July 2020 in Jefferson County.

According to court documents, Faunteroy was prohibited from having a firearm due to a prior domestic violence conviction.

Faunteroy faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Helman is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Charles Town Police Department investigated.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Faunteroy’s case is ongoing.
