Charleston, WV – In a harsh reminder that felons can’t handle heat, Brandon Lee Woodrum, 31, got two years, nine months for peddling stolen guns. Woodrum, a convicted felon, sold a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm pistol and a Springfield Armory Saint Victor AR-15 rifle, both reported stolen, on the streets of Charleston.
US Attorney Moore Capito praised the Charleston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their diligent work in tracking down Woodrum. ‘This case is a testament to the tireless efforts of our law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe,’ Capito said.
Woodrum’s rap sheet includes prior felony convictions for wanton endangerment with a firearm and assault and battery. He’s now facing time for being a felon in possession of a firearm, a federal crime. United States District Judge Irene C. Berger handed down the sentence.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to take down transnational crime and protect communities from violence.
