Jonathan Kennedy, Methamphetamine Trafficking, West Virginia 2025

⏱ 3 min read

A 45-year-old St. Albans man is headed to federal prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine distribution ring that brought the deadly drug to Kanawha County streets. Jonathan Kennedy’s conspiracy unraveled in August 2025, when law enforcement intercepted a package containing 38 pounds of methamphetamine, destined for a Dunbar address.

Kennedy’s co-conspirators shipped pounds of methamphetamine from California to locations in Kanawha County, where he took possession and re-distributed it. Court documents detail how Kennedy arranged for shipments and handed off packages to various co-conspirators, including a June 2025 handoff of 690 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in St. Albans.

At the time of his arrest, Kennedy was serving a term of supervised release stemming from a 2022 conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of West Virginia sentenced Kennedy to 15 years and eight months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Kennedy’s guilty plea detailed his involvement in the conspiracy, which operated from May to August 2025. He admitted to arranging multiple shipments of methamphetamine, including a pair of half-pound quantities handed off to a co-conspirator in St. Albans on May 30 and June 24, 2025.
