A midlife crisis turned deadly in Beckley, West Virginia, as James Tilford Bradley, 50, peddled poison to confidential informants on multiple occasions. On February 13, 2024, Bradley sold a kilo’s worth of methamphetamine for a cool $100, setting the stage for a string of similar deals.
The transactions, which took place in various business parking lots, left a trail of destruction in its wake. Bradley admitted to selling the deadly substance on February 14, February 28, and July 22, 2024, each time reaping a tidy profit.
The investigation, spearheaded by the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, consisted of officers from the West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and the Beckley Police Department. Their tireless efforts culminated in Bradley’s guilty plea.
As part of his plea deal, Bradley faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. His sentencing is scheduled for August 7, 2026.
