A West Virginia fentanyl trafficking ring leader has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute lethal doses of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Delano Alan Butler, 45, admitted to organizing a crew of six individuals to sell the substances in Berkeley County.
In 2022, Butler’s crew was responsible for distributing over 400 grams of fentanyl, approximately 200,000 lethal doses. They also dealt methamphetamine and cocaine. Butler maintained a dedicated property for distribution and used a crew of six to facilitate the sales.
As part of his plea agreement, Butler will forfeit several firearms, including six semi-automatic rifles, two semi-automatic pistols, and one semi-automatic shotgun. Four of his co-defendants have also entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing.
U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey announced the guilty plea, saying that Butler’s actions put countless lives at risk. Butler faces a potential prison term of 180 to 288 months.
