Fayette County Woman Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Trafficking
In a devastating blow to the methamphetamine epidemic plaguing our nation, Trina Tellez-Mullins, 36, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to a single count indictment charging her with possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to United States Attorney Mike Stuart, Tellez-Mullins was caught with a staggering 433.1 grams of methamphetamine at the Greyhound station in Beckley on September 28, 2017. The package was intercepted by law enforcement, who had been tracking its journey from California via Greyhound bus.
In a controlled delivery, federal agents arranged for the package to be delivered to Tellez-Mullins, where she was arrested upon accepting the package. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Tellez-Mullins faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years to life in prison when she is sentenced on February 18, 2021. United States District Judge Frank W. Volk presided over the hearing, with Assistant United States Attorney Nick Miller handling the prosecution.
The case highlights the brazen tactics used by methamphetamine dealers to bring their deadly product into our communities. As Stuart pointed out, these dealers utilize various methods, including planes, trains, automobiles, and even the U.S. mail, to smuggle their wares into our neighborhoods.
The guilty plea marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their ongoing battle against the methamphetamine epidemic. As we continue to report on the devastating impact of this crisis, we remain committed to shedding light on the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
