Christopher Anderson, Firearms Conspiracy, West Virginia 2018

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A 36-year-old man from Morgantown has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a firearms conspiracy, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced yesterday.

Christopher Anderson, 36, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was sentenced for his role in the conspiracy that took place from May to June 2017 in Morgantown. Anderson had previously pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Violate Federal Firearms Laws in August 2018.

According to the plea agreement, Anderson worked with others to make false statements to purchase firearms from May to June 2017 in Morgantown. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the government’s violent crime reduction efforts.

PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime. Through PSN, a broad spectrum of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.

Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the case. The sentence of 27 months in prison is a significant blow to those involved in firearms conspiracies and serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar activities.

The case is a prime example of the government’s commitment to reducing violent crime and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
