A Wheeling man has been sentenced to 92 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl in the city’s East End.
Rashun Rafael Suncar, 37, also known as ‘Blackie,’ was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey on federal fentanyl distribution charges.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Suncar sold counterfeit pills containing fentanyl near the Elks Playground in East Wheeling. Investigators searched Suncar’s residence and found additional drugs along with a 9mm Taurus pistol.
The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Nogay prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The sentence handed down to Suncar is a result of his involvement in the illicit drug trade, which has plagued the community in recent years.
The investigation and prosecution of this case are a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement agencies in the region.
