Raul Martinez, 50, Sentenced to 108 Months in Prison for Cocaine Trafficking in Indiana

A Merrillville man has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation in the northern Indiana region, announced Acting U.S. Attorney M. Scott Proctor.

Raul Martinez, 50, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Senior Judge James T. Moody after pleading guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

According to court documents, between October 2021 and July 2022, Martinez sold cocaine on six separate occasions. During the execution of a search warrant at his residence located in Merrillville, law enforcement recovered approximately five kilograms of cocaine, nine firearms, ammunition, cocaine presses, digital scales, and a money counter.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration Indiana High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Toth prosecuted the case.

Martinez was also sentenced to 4 years of supervised release following his prison term. The sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the significant impact it has on our communities.
