ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester man was sentenced to 130 months in prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Raymond Collazo, 38, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The case began on April 24, 2014, when law enforcement executed multiple search warrants in Rochester and at Collazo’s residence in Orlando, Florida. Authorities seized over 12 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, 200 grams of heroin, three loaded handguns, one of which was stolen, dozens of rounds of ammunition, $2,466 in U.S. currency, and paraphernalia for processing, packaging, and distributing cocaine and heroin at 617 Ridgeway Avenue.
Collazo and his co-defendant, Luis Abril, led a Rochester-based drug organization that processed, packaged, and resold large quantities of crack cocaine and heroin in the city.
Abril was sentenced to 120 months in prison in February 2015.
The investigation was conducted by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, and involved the Rochester Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
Collazo’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
