BOSTON, MA – A Dominican national was sentenced to prison for illegally re-entering the United States after deportation.
Reynaldo Rodriguez, 49, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni to one year and one day in prison and will be subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence.
In October 2017, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien.
Rodriguez was previously deported on June 14, 2007. In June 2017, law enforcement officers in Hampden County encountered Rodriguez and determined him to be illegally present in the United States.
Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb and Michael Shea, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston, made the announcement today.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse of Weinreb’s Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
Rodriguez’s sentence comes after he was found to have illegally re-entered the United States, a crime that carries serious penalties.
The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating immigration laws and the importance of upholding the rule of law.
