Felon Sentenced to Prison for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
LAS VEGAS
A convicted felon was sentenced to prison for unlawfully possessing a semiautomatic pistol in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ricardo Heriberto Miranda, also known as “Pee-Wee,” was sentenced to 42 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for one count of prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Miranda, who has prior felony convictions for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute a controlled substance in the District of Wyoming, and attempt possession of stolen vehicle in Clark County, Nevada, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The incident occurred on December 29, 2023, when Miranda was involved in a high-speed collision in a stolen car. After the collision, he placed a loaded 9x19mm semiautomatic pistol in his pocket and walked to a nearby residence, where he hid the pistol in a wheel well of a pickup truck.
Miranda failed to report to the United States Probation Office after being released from the Southern Nevada Detention Center on December 17, 2021.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Dan Cowhig prosecuting the case.
Miranda’s sentencing is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
