Richard Collins, Methamphetamine Sales, Tennessee 2025

MEMPHIS, TN – A Memphis man has been given a significant sentence for his part in selling methamphetamine to undercover ATF agents. Richard Collins, 35, was handed down a 100-month prison sentence by United States District Court Judge Thomas L. Parker on January 8, 2025.

Collins was accused of aiding and abetting the distribution of methamphetamine in June 2023. Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives began investigating the 92 Bishop Blood street gang’s involvement in drug distribution. On June 13, 2023, Collins arranged to sell approximately two ounces of pure methamphetamine to undercover agents for $500.

The agents met Collins at a location on Jackson Avenue in Memphis, where he coordinated with another individual to bring the methamphetamine. The individual arrived moments later and exchanged 63.34 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine for the agreed-upon amount of currency.

Collins was indicted in February 2024, on conspiracy and aiding and abetting distribution of methamphetamine charges. He entered a guilty plea to aiding and abetting the distribution of methamphetamine on October 10, 2024.

The case was investigated by the Memphis Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Nashville laboratory. Acting U.S. Attorney Reagan Fondren thanked Assistant United States Attorneys Bryce H. Phillips and Wendy Cornejo for their work on the case.

Collins will serve a four-year period of supervised release following his imprisonment, with no parole available in the federal system. This sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in organized crime and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat it.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives continues to work collaboratively with state, local, and federal partners to bring individuals like Collins to justice.
