Threats Against Immigration Officials Land North Carolina Man in Hot Water
Raleigh, N.C. – A Forsyth County man named Richard David Warren, 61, is behind bars after allegedly mailing threatening letters to two government officials leading the United States’ immigration enforcement and related policies.
According to court documents, Warren allegedly mailed the letters in June 2025, threatening to kill the officials and harm their families. Warren also allegedly threatened to blow up and burn down the house belonging to one of the officials.
The alleged threats took place in June 2025, with Warren mailing the letters to the government officials. The exact dates of the letters are not available.
Warren is currently facing three counts of violating 18 U.S.C. § 115(a)(1), which pertains to threatening to murder a federal official or his family. He is also facing two counts of violating 18 U.S.C. § 876(c), which relates to mailing a threatening communication to a federal official. If convicted, Warren could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
The investigation into Warren’s alleged actions was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of Professional Responsibility, within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of North Carolina also played a role in the arrest.
