A former Hell’s Angels member, Richard E. Riedman, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking ring in Western New York.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Riedman, 41, of Webster, NY, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, methamphetamine.
The investigation, which began in 2004, revealed that Riedman was responsible for obtaining quantities of methamphetamine from drug suppliers, including fellow Rochester Hell’s Angels member James H. McAuley, Jr. He then distributed the drugs to others in the Western District of New York until 2010.
Riedman was previously convicted following a jury trial, in an unrelated case, of conspiracy to commit burglary of a railcar and theft of interstate shipment. Those charges related to the defendant’s involvement, along with four others, in stealing more than 64 gross tons of a high-grade scrap steel from a railcar at a CSXT rail yard in Batavia, New York in June 2009.
Judge Charles J. Siragusa sentenced Riedman to 37 months in prison in that case in January 2014.
The sentencing was the culmination of an investigation on the part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the New York State Police, the City of Batavia Police Department, and the Village of LeRoy Police Department.
Riedman must also serve a term of supervised release following his release from prison.
