Rider Marel Santos-Lara, Unlawful Reentry, Oklahoma 2025

Guilty Plea in Unlawful Reentry Case

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking turn of events, Rider Marel Santos-Lara, a 36-year-old Honduran national, pleaded guilty to one count of Unlawful Reentry of Removed Alien in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The charge arose from an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, who worked tirelessly to bring Santos-Lara to justice.

According to the indictment, on November 17, 2025, Santos-Lara was found in the United States without obtaining the express consent of the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States after having been previously removed on September 30, 2016.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.

The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Santos-Lara will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Edith A. Singer represented the United States during the hearing.
