Okmulgee Resident Pleads Guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
A shocking crime has shaken the community of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, as 22-year-old Isaac James Looney has pleaded guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Looney was charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The crime is alleged to have occurred on December 16, 2024, in Okmulgee County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation into the crime was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Okmulgee Police Department, and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department.
Looney will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing, where a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lewis M. Reagan and Jordan Howanitz represented the United States in this case.
Looney’s guilty plea marks a significant development in this case, and the community can now begin to heal from the trauma caused by this violent crime.
