Tulsa Man Charged in 2019 Murder

A gruesome crime has shaken the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The FBI and Tulsa Police Department have charged a 25-year-old man with First Degree Felony Murder in connection with the death of 22-year-old Benjamin Montgomery.

According to court records, Jamalo Keon Bruner, Jr. attempted to rob or burglarize an individual in October 2019. Unfortunately, Montgomery was killed during the incident. Since 2019, the Tulsa Police Department has been diligently investigating the case, working closely with the FBI to bring justice to the victim’s family.

Following the McGirt decision, which impacts cases involving Native American defendants, the FBI has been working with the Tulsa Police Department to investigate this case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eric O. Johnston and Tyson McCoy are prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and Bruner is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The 25-year-old, a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, was arrested after the indictment was unsealed.

The case has been ongoing for years, and the victim’s family and community are still seeking justice. The FBI and Tulsa Police Department are working tirelessly to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
