Rikki Hill Sentenced for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

The streets of Eagle Butte, South Dakota, took a darker turn when Rikki Hill, 21, committed a heinous crime. On August 12, 2015, Hill got into a verbal argument with her sister that escalated into a physical fight. The parents intervened, but Hill’s anger didn’t subside. She crawled through a basement window, re-entered the house, and lunged at her sister with a knife, stabbing her in the arm.

According to sources, Hill attempted to stab her sister in the heart, but her sister blocked it and was cut in the arm instead. This senseless act of violence has left the community shocked and outraged.

On May 9, 2016, U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange sentenced Hill to 36 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, and a special assessment of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Rikki Hill was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 8, 2015, and pled guilty on February 9, 2016. This case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller prosecuting the case.
