Gabriel Rivera, Fentanyl Trafficking, New Hampshire 2024

CONCORD – Gabriel Rivera, 41, of Manchester, was handed a 90-month federal prison sentence on Monday for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy and firearm charges, announced Acting United States Attorney John J. Farley.

According to court documents, on two occasions early last year, a Manchester Police Department cooperating individual purchased fentanyl from Rivera and Ramon Guerrero at their shared apartment. During these transactions, the CI observed quantities of suspected crack and methamphetamine alongside fentanyl.

In May 2020, detectives noticed Guerrero and a woman check into a local motel at 3:30 am. With arrest and search warrants in hand, officers entered the room and found $9,254 in cash, baggies containing cocaine, and fentanyl pills. A subsequent apartment search revealed Rivera with crack, over 76 grams of cocaine, and over 162 grams of fentanyl, along with a handgun tucked behind a cushion.

As a convicted felon, Rivera was forbidden from possessing a firearm. He and Guerrero pleaded guilty on August 3, 2021, with Guerrero’s sentencing scheduled for November 23, 2021.

‘Drug traffickers continue to endanger our community by selling deadly substances,’ said Acting U.S. Attorney Farley. ‘When drug dealers are armed, they also present a serious risk of violence. This case demonstrates that we are working closely with the Manchester Police to identify and prosecute the armed drug traffickers who threaten Manchester citizens.’

This investigation was conducted by the Manchester Police Department, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joachim H. Barth. The case is part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (S.O.S.), a federal initiative aimed at combating fentanyl-related overdoses and deaths. In New Hampshire, the U.S. Attorney’s Office focuses on synthetic opioid trafficking cases in Hillsborough County.
