Riverside Elementary Teacher Indicted on Child Pornography Charges
SPOKANE, Washington – In a shocking case of abuse of trust, a federal grand jury has indicted Dallas Michael Shuler, a 42-year-old employee of Riverside Elementary School in Spokane, Washington, on three counts of child pornography charges.
According to a complaint filed by the FBI and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office on May 13, Shuler was accused of producing, distributing, and receiving child pornography, including a Snapchat video that depicted minors engaged in sexual conduct. Shuler allegedly admitted to investigators that he enjoyed looking at sexually explicit images of children as young as 10 and had conversed with more than two dozen minors regarding sexual content.
The indictment charges Shuler with one count of Production of Child Pornography, one count of Distribution of Child Pornography, and one count of Receipt of Child Pornography. If convicted, Shuler faces 30 years in prison on the charge of Production of Child Pornography, 20 years in prison for the count of Distribution of Child Pornography, and 20 years in prison for the count of Receipt of Child Pornography. Shuler would also be required to register as a sex offender.
Shuler allegedly had sexual contact with two juveniles at two separate times, and in both cases, he recorded the sex acts and distributed the videos online. Shuler allegedly admitted to making multiple attempts to solicit other youth to meet him and engage in sex acts. This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
U.S. Attorney Waldref stated, “My office and our law enforcement partners stand ready to respond with thorough investigations, aggressive prosecutions, and determined advocacy in pursuing those who seek to abuse children, whether it occurs behind a keyboard or closed doors.”
This case is being investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca Perez. An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The FBI and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office have been working together to bring justice to the victims of Shuler’s alleged crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
This case is a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting our children from predators like Dallas Shuler. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and bring you updates as more information becomes available.
