A Prairieville man has landed in serious trouble with the law, after being sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin distribution scheme. Robert Brown, 28, of Prairieville, Louisiana, was convicted of distribution of heroin.
The crime occurred on December 1, 2017, when Brown made arrangements with a confidential informant to sell the informant one-half of an ounce of heroin for $1,200 at a gas station in Livonia, Louisiana. The informant subsequently met with Brown at the gas station where he sold the heroin to the informant for $1,200 as planned.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case and Assistant United States Attorney William K. Morris prosecuted the matter. U.S. Chief Judge Shelly D. Dick handed down the sentence.
Brown will serve 60 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. This is a serious outcome for the defendant, and a testament to the effectiveness of law enforcement in cracking down on heroin distribution.
