ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Robert E. Hood, 52, of Albuquerque, has pleaded guilty in federal court on August 26 to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Hood is currently in custody pending sentencing. His plea agreement and court records reveal that on December 23, 2019, a loaded .40 caliber pistol was found between the mattress and box spring of his bed during a parole field call at his residence.

As a previously convicted felon, Hood is not legally permitted to possess a firearm or ammunition. Hood’s prior convictions include possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was on parole at the time of the discovery.

The FBI and the New Mexico Corrections Department investigated this case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel A. Hurtado.
