St. Louis Man Sentenced to 150 Months in Prison for Gun Crime
ST. LOUIS, Missouri – A city plagued by violence saw another blow dealt to those responsible. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark sentenced 44-year-old Robert Eutz III to 150 months in prison for a felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case dates back to March 30, 2023, when a shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Lafayette Avenue. After the incident, St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers stopped a car, later identified as belonging to Eutz, shortly after the shooting. During the stop, officers found 10mm ammunition and spent casings in the car, as well as a 10mm Glock handgun, 23.67 grams of raw fentanyl, and 111 capsules containing fentanyl in a safe within the vehicle.
The shooting victim, who was hit multiple times, identified Eutz as the shooter. Witnesses also identified the vehicle in question, further linking Eutz to the crime. The casings from the shooting scene matched the gun and spent casings recovered from Eutz’s vehicle. As a convicted felon, Eutz is barred from possessing a firearm, making his actions a clear violation of federal law.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski took on the case, working in conjunction with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to bring Eutz to justice.
In January, Eutz pleaded guilty to the felony count, admitting to his role in the shooting and the subsequent possession of a firearm. The plea agreement outlined the details of the crime, including the discovery of the firearm, fentanyl, and spent casings in the vehicle.
Now, Eutz will face the consequences of his actions, serving 150 months in prison for his role in the shooting and gun crime. The people of St. Louis can rest a little easier knowing that justice has been served in this case.
