Robert Rallo, Murder, Connecticut 2020

A gruesome crime has been brought to justice in Connecticut as Robert Rallo, 59, of New York, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for his role in the robbery and murder of Mark Vuono, the owner of Marco Jewelers in Stamford.

On March 28, 2020, Rallo, armed with a handgun, entered the store, where he engaged in a physical altercation with Vuono, who also possessed a firearm. The struggle resulted in Rallo shooting and killing Vuono with a .357 Magnum revolver.

Rallo, who had a prior history of violent crime, including two murder convictions, met his accomplices, Paul Prosano and Thomas Liberatore, while incarcerated in the New York State prison system. The three men were linked to the crime through surveillance footage and a thorough investigation by the FBI and local police departments.

Prosano and Liberatore were also arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Prosano was found to have been driving the getaway car, while Liberatore was seen stealing items from the display cases during the robbery.

The sentencing of Rallo comes as a relief to the Vuono family, who have been seeking justice for their loved one’s tragic death. ‘This sentence will protect society from a dangerous individual who brutally killed a much loved and respected man and small business owner,’ said U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery.

The case highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice. ‘We are very pleased to see these three career criminals held accountable for this senseless murder,’ said Assistant Chief Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department.
