Two Mexican Nationals, ROBERTO HERRERA-VILLAGOMEZ and JUAN MANUEL HERRERA-VILLAGOMEZ, have pleaded guilty to violating the Federal Gun Control Act in Louisiana.
According to court records, the two individuals were found in possession of firearms on October 15, 2014 at a mushroom farm in Tangipahoa Parish. Agents executed a search warrant as part of an investigation into the harboring of illegal aliens.
The defendants, both illegal aliens, face a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years, followed by up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo has set sentencing for July 30, 2015.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney David Haller is in charge of the prosecution.
