Robles Park Gang Members Charged in Violent Crime Spree, 91 Defendants Prosecuted in 2022
Tampa, FL – In a significant effort to combat violent crime, the United States Attorney’s Office has partnered with the Tampa Police Department to charge and prosecute 91 defendants in 2022. These defendants were accused of committing various federal crimes, including firearms and drug offenses.
Among the cases prosecuted was the ‘Robles Park’ criminal enterprise, which involved members and associates who engaged in murder, assault, intimidation, narcotics trafficking, unemployment insurance fraud, identity theft, obstruction of justice, and other crimes. In 2020, Robles Park members committed a shooting outside the Truth Lounge in Tampa, leaving eight people injured, including minors.
The prosecution of the Robles Park enterprise led to the charging of four individuals associated with the organization with federal firearms and violent offenses. Three of those individuals have pleaded guilty. The cases highlight the U.S. Attorney’s Office commitment to working with law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime.
One notable case involved Jeffrey Davis and Tyee Spike, who received prison sentences of 24 years and 26 years and 3 months, respectively, following their convictions. Davis and Spike were accused of committing a series of commercial armed robberies in Tampa, Fishhawk, and Riverview, brandishing firearms during each robbery. During one of the robberies, Spike shot a victim in the stomach.
Antonio Phillips, another defendant, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Phillips received a sentence of 8 years in prison. On December 1, 2020, Phillips and others conducted a drive-by shooting on an occupied vehicle in Tampa, resulting in a 50-round drum-style magazine and trigger-mounted laser being recovered by law enforcement.
Javeon Jacobs, a defendant in another case, was sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to three counts of brandishing a firearm while committing carjackings. Jacobs committed three separate carjackings, including one in which he kidnapped two victims and pistol-whipped one of them.
Natwan Callaway, a defendant who pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a felon, faces a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment. Callaway was accused of possessing and utilizing several firearms, including a Glock 17 9mm pistol that was linked to a homicide, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault in Tampa.
