Johnny L. Wynn, II, Sawed Off Shotgun Possession, New York 2023

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Rochester man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for possession of a sawed off shotgun. Johnny L. Wynn, II, 31, was convicted of the crime last year.

According to court documents, Wynn, a convicted felon, possessed a 12 gauge, Revelation Model 312 bolt action shotgun. The discovery was made during an undercover investigation into the illegal trafficking of firearms.

On April 16, 2009, an undercover law enforcement officer purchased the shotgun along with a 9mm rifle from Wynn for $1,000.00 in cash. The sale occurred inside of a vehicle outside Wynn’s residence on Cutler Street in Rochester.

The sentencing was the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Scott Heagney, Resident Agent in Charge and the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of James Sheppard.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Moynihan, who handled the case, commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced the sentencing, stating that Wynn’s conviction and sentence serve as a reminder of the serious consequences of violating federal firearms laws.
