Rochester Man Threatens President
A Rochester man has been hit with a serious charge after allegedly making a chilling threat against the President of the United States. 30-year-old Christopher Ludwig was indicted by a federal grand jury on a single count of making threats against the President.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, Ludwig called the Monroe County Board of Elections in April 2012 and told an employee, "I am going to kill him" in reference to the President of the United States.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both, should Ludwig be found guilty. The indictment is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the United States Secret Service, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Tracy Gast.
The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, who stated that Ludwig’s alleged comments were made in April 2012. The incident has sparked concern and raised questions about the safety of public officials.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. Ludwig is currently facing a serious charge and the outcome of the case remains uncertain.
U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced the indictment, stating that the charge is a serious one and that the Secret Service will continue to investigate and prosecute those who threaten the President.
