Rochester Predator Gonzalez Admits to Child Porn Possession

ROCHESTER, NY – Leonardo Gonzalez, 34, of Rochester, has confessed to a sickening crime: possessing hundreds of images depicting the sexual abuse of children. The plea, entered before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr., marks a significant, though hardly satisfying, step towards accountability for this digital predator.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, the case originated with an indictment in Alaska, charging Gonzalez with distribution of child pornography. However, the investigation quickly revealed a deeper depravity. On August 31, 2016, authorities discovered 300 horrific images on Gonzalez’s Alcatel smartphone – images depicting prepubescent minors subjected to unspeakable acts. These weren’t stumbled-upon images; Gonzalez actively sought them out, downloading them from a website dedicated to the exploitation of children.

The Grimy Times doesn’t shy away from the ugly truth. Gonzalez didn’t just *have* the images; he cultivated a digital collection of abuse, fueling a monstrous industry that preys on the most vulnerable. The details are deliberately withheld here – we refuse to further disseminate this vile material, even in the reporting of the crime.

The investigation, a collaborative effort between Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (led by Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero), and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Alaska (under Acting United States Attorney Bryan Schroder), paints a disturbing picture of Gonzalez’s online activities. This wasn’t a momentary lapse in judgment; it was a deliberate act of seeking out and possessing illegal and deeply harmful content.

Gonzalez now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. While prison time won’t undo the harm caused, it will hopefully prevent him from inflicting further damage. Sentencing is scheduled for August 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. before Judge Geraci. The Grimy Times will be there to report the final outcome.
