Rockwell, IA – A grim milestone was reached in the fight against child exploitation as David Bradley Garrison, a 44-year-old resident of Rockwell, Iowa, was sentenced yesterday to 21 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child pornography.
Garrison’s descent into pedophilia began when he recorded a video of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct in July 2021. His depravity only intensified as he distributed this material to multiple recipients in May and August 2021, further exacerbating his crimes by amassing thousands of photographs and videos depicting infants and the grotesque sexual torture or bondage of children.
Despite the January 2022 search of his residence by law enforcement, Garrison persisted in his sinister activities. The U.S. District Court for Sioux City, presided over by Judge Leonard T. Strand, meted out a sentence of 252 months’ imprisonment and ordered him to pay $16,000 in restitution to victims. A mandatory 5-year supervised release follows the prison term, with no parole available under the federal system.
Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006, played a pivotal role in this case. The program, led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute child predators while identifying and rescuing victims.
Garrison is now under the custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison. Assistant United States Attorneys Devra T. Hake and Dillan Edwards prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, FBI, Iowa Department of Public Safety, and the Rockwell Police Department.
