A 16-year and 8-month prison sentence has been handed down to Roderick Dewaine Hogan, a 39-year-old man from Plain Dealing, Louisiana, after he pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge.
Hogan was sentenced by United States District Judge Donald E. Walter on today for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Plain Dealing and Springhill areas of Louisiana.
According to court documents, Hogan received a phone call from co-conspirator Damione Brock, who was a prisoner at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, on November 30, 2018. During the call, Brock asked Hogan to put together a package of methamphetamine to be delivered to Angola.
Hogan provided the narcotics to co-conspirator Marvin Beck, who then drove Hogan’s vehicle to deliver the package to Keisarah McGee, another co-conspirator and a correctional officer at Angola at the time.
On December 2, 2018, DEA agents surveilled the transportation of the methamphetamine, which was hidden in fake soda cans, and stopped McGee at the gate of the Angola facility before she could enter with the hidden narcotics. Agents seized the methamphetamine prior to her entry.
The DEA conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys J. Aaron Crawford and Brandon B. Brown prosecuted the case.
Hogan pleaded guilty to the charge on October 22, 2019.
Roderick Dewaine Hogan, 39, of Plain Dealing, Louisiana was sentenced to 200 months (16 years, 8 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, on a drug conspiracy charge.
This case is a reminder of the ongoing battle against methamphetamine trafficking in our region.
