RODLUFO ROBLERO LOPEZ, 37, a citizen of Mexico, has been sentenced to prison for illegally reentering the U.S. after being deported.
According to court documents and statements made in court, ROBLERO LOPEZ illegally entered the U.S. when he was approximately 19 years old. Between November 2000 and August 2008, he was arrested multiple times in Florida and Massachusetts for various crimes, including misdemeanor aggravated battery, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, assault and battery, and breaking and entering.
On September 24, 2003, ROBLERO LOPEZ was convicted in Palm Beach, Florida, of misdemeanor aggravated battery and sentenced to approximately three months of time already served. On January 13, 2006, he was convicted in Springfield, Massachusetts, of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. On November 21, 2007, he was convicted in Springfield of assault and battery, a charge that stemmed from a domestic violence incident. On August 27, 2008, he was convicted in Springfield of breaking and entering and related offenses, and was sentenced to one year of incarceration.
While incarcerated in Massachusetts, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was made aware of ROBLERO LOPEZ’s presence in the U.S. He was deported to Mexico on September 28, 2008. However, he returned to the U.S. and continued to commit crimes, including a domestic violence incident in Springfield on September 26, 2009, for which he was deported to Mexico on December 18, 2009.
On May 3, 2010, ROBLERO LOPEZ was arrested in Springfield after a domestic violence incident and was subsequently charged with assault and battery on a knowingly pregnant female, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to six months of incarceration. On July 30, 2010, he was deported to Mexico. However, he again returned to the U.S. and was arrested by Connecticut State Police on June 16, 2016, for operating a vehicle under the influence.
RODLUFO ROBLERO LOPEZ was taken into federal custody on September 23, 2016, and on December 19, 2016, he pleaded guilty to reentry of a removed alien. U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea sentenced him to 12 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release. ROBLERO LOPEZ faces additional immigration proceedings after he serves his federal sentence.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Slater.
