Ronald Anthony McCarter Jr., Bank Robbery, New York 2015

Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, a Lackawanna man was sentenced to 27 months in prison for robbing a local bank.

Ronald Anthony McCarter Jr., 25, was convicted of bank robbery after a string of events unfolded on October 29, 2015. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane, McCarter entered the Key Bank on Broadway Avenue in Lancaster, NY and passed a note to a teller demanding cash, no dye pack, and no sudden movements.

Bank surveillance photos later identified McCarter as the individual responsible for the heist. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen, and the Lancaster Police Department under the direction of Chief Gerald Gill, ultimately led to McCarter’s conviction.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo handed down the sentence, effectively putting an end to McCarter’s freedom. The 27-month sentence is a culmination of a lengthy investigation, and Grimy Times is proud to bring you this information.
