Yaacov Yosef Deutsch, Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien, New York 2017

Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, Yaacov Yosef Deutsch, a 48-year-old man from Vienna, Austria, has been arrested and charged with unlawful reentry of a removed alien and making a false statement to a federal officer.

According to the complaint, Deutsch, who had previously been removed from the United States, attempted to enter the country at the Rainbow Bridge Port of Entry without the consent of the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of Homeland Security. This is a serious offense, as it requires explicit permission from the authorities before re-entering the country.

During the process of seeking admission to the United States, Deutsch allegedly made false statements to a federal officer. The exact nature of these statements was not disclosed, but it is clear that this was a deliberate attempt to deceive the authorities.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten is handling the case, and she stated that the charges carry a maximum penalty of five years and $250,000 fine.

The defendant made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr., and is currently being held pending a detention hearing on March 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.

The investigation into this matter was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly, and Customs and Border Protection, under the direction of Rose Brophy, Director of Field Operations.
