Grimy Times has learned that Juan Gonzalez Hernandez, a 26-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to time served (27 days in jail) for illegally re-entering the United States.
The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Thomas P. Brophy, Acting Director of the Buffalo Field Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
According to court documents, Gonzalez Hernandez admitted to re-entering the US after he was removed to Mexico on April 28, 2012, and again on May 7, 2012.
Juan Gonzalez Hernandez was arrested by ICE Officers on March 7, 2017, at a residence in Hudson Falls, New York.
This case was investigated by ICE-ERO and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward P. Grogan.
Following his sentencing, Gonzalez Hernandez was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, which will place him into removal proceedings.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat unauthorized immigration and hold individuals accountable for violating US laws.
