Arapahoe man Ronald Blaise Jenkins, 26, was sentenced to 84 months in prison for his role in an assault involving a firearm.
According to reports, Jenkins shot another man in the abdomen on January 5, 2021, causing life-threatening injuries.
The two men had argued about a song on the radio, and alcohol was involved in the altercation.
Jenkins was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on December 20, 2021, in connection with the assault.
As part of his sentence, Jenkins was ordered to pay $1,357 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. He was also sentenced to five years of supervised release with special conditions.
United States Attorney Bob Murray praised the work of law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Wind River Police Department, and Riverton Police Department.
Murray said that the case highlighted the dangers of drinking and guns, stating, ‘Alcohol impairs judgement, and, in this case, a simple argument escalated to the point of one friend shooting another friend.’
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, with assistance from the Wind River Police Department and Riverton Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Kerry J. Jacobson prosecuted the case.
